Multi - Level Arrangements for Band and Orchestra
My interest in multi - level arrangements started with my teaching experiences in Zimbabwe. The Orchestras and Bands I worked with changed instrumentation and ability level constantly. I was forever looking for appropriate repertoire, transposing parts or rearranging entire scores to fit my groups, which often took several hours to do. I am now hoping to create arrangements of classical greats and suitable repertoire for schools providing transposed parts for most common school instruments and parts for Beginners (Grade 1 -3), Intermediates (Grade 4-6) and Advanced (Grade 7-8). If you have any repertoire you would love to perform with your group, or have a diverse group of musicians, I would love to create an arrangement for you. Please do get in touch.
Music of the world
Icho Mumhanzi! is my first world music based project bit it certainly will not be the last. I had a goal of creating an educational resource to incorporate songs and music from Zimbabwe into the music classroom. The project investigated the importance of world music in the music classroom and the preservation and performance of traditional Shona folks songs from Zimbabwe. Please go to the Icho Mumhanzi! page to view a copy of the book, and visit the Media page to see and hear clips from some of the songs used in the book. I am ready for music teachers to start using this book with the classes and would greatly appreciate all feedback on your experiences.
Piano Music
A Zimbabwe Safari is an original composition for two part choir with piano and percussion. Let's go on Safari in Zimbabwe and see what animals we can find. Learn their names in Shona and English but watch out for snakes!
